| Description: Shiatsu is a form of therapeutic bodywork that is relaxing, restorative and beneficial to health. It is practiced on a futon with the client wearing light, loose clothing. The governing principle is to harmonize yin and yang and to restore natural balance in all aspects of the body-mind. Treatments include palming along meridians or energy pathways, thumb pressure on acupressure points and gentle stretching and mobilisation of joints. Shiatsu works well alongside conventional medicine. Professional qualifications/associations: Studied Oriental medicine in Denmark and in London at the European Shiatsu School. Currently engaged in postgraduate study exploring Shiatsu’s roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as taking a specialist course in Shiatsu for pregnancy and childbirth.
